bagus.org- bagus.org- Publish- Editors Guide : Help with understanding what this is all about

The Bagus.org site and java based web site software are a pretty new, but exciting combination.

Our main goals are to encourage mass participation in the publishing of information on consumerism, environmental issues and human rights issues, to help people learn how to publish information on the internet, and to provide tools to enable better, faster, easier web publishing for the masses.

Let's look at these goals again.

To encourage mass participation in the publishing of information on consumerism, environmental issues and human rights issues,

To provide tools to enable better, faster, easier web publishing for the masses.

So why are we doing this all? It comes from a belief that the Internet was meant to have a freely accessible home for information people can use to make the world a more healthy place. It comes from the belief that there should be more than just the direct feed from the large corporations and large media sources. It comes from a belief that if everyone has access to good information that we'll be able to change the world at both the global and local levels.

So we built a place that's easy to organize and that can publish content on any number of topics and subtopics. We built in an editorial system to allow for quality of content to come before quantity. Now we're working to encourage everyone to start adding content to the existing pages and to work with us to create new topics.

The system we've built is very much based on internet standards like html and style sheets. The more everyone learns about them, the more control they will have over content they submit or edit. Editors will have easy tools to radically change the appearance of their site's section with out having to contact bagus.org.

We're hoping that we can assign a lot of different topics to a lot of different editors. Actually, a 'topic' can be separate from the bagus.org site completely, so if you're organization is looking to publish a web site, please contact us and we can give you a great way you can "build it yourself"
