- Bass:
The bass is playing two dotted quarters and a regular quarter on beat four. First note is F, then A, then C. Typical simple New Orleans. - Rhythem:
The general rhythem trick here in this 12 bar blues is that all the I chord and IV chord measures start with two eight notes that jump from a low c note to a high d. Then the come down starts with a slide from an Ab to an A then F D and back to the low C. Every measure. Get those notes down and you can use that for every measure except the one where you are pounding the four c chords I'll explain below. When you go to the IV chord in measure 5, instead of jumping low c to hi d, just use the d to hi d. Because the four chord is a Bb and d is in that chord.
As I'm learning blues, I'm finding most blues turn arounds seem to start on the V note. So since each measure of this song has a turn around and the song is in F, the rhythem starts on the C. And then jumps to the high d and comes back down
- Hook:
This song has a little kick for the V chord. You gotta pound five quarter notes when you hit the V (a C). Then there's a no-chord bit for measure 10 and one F and Three C's in measure 12. So from measure nine:(chords) 9: C7 C7 C7 C7 (notes) 10: D C G# A F D C SinceMy baby got on (notes) 11: F D G# A F D C board (chords) 12: F C C C
So that's the trick. But now, there's more... there's a recording! I recommend this real version or go for the 27 meg WAV file.
